Our Kiwanis club was chartered in 1991 to serve the cities of Miramar and Pembroke Pines. We are made of up local neighbors, friends, and businesses interested in serving the needs of this area. We currently have Key Clubs in 4 high schools (Everglades, Flanagan, Miramar, and Pembroke Pines Charter). Our main goal is to create a sense of community in the neighborhoods where people live and work. We hope that an increased sense of community will lead to more personal involvement and more cultural, educational and social activities, which will create a better community and a better place for us to live. In 2017, our club founded the Kiwanis Miramar Pembroke Pines Foundation, a 501(c)3 public charity in order to expand our impact in our community.

Kiwanis began in 1915 in Detroit, Michigan as a way for business people to network and serve their community. It has since expanded to over 80 countries around the world with the motto of improving the world, one child and one community at a time. Clubs take care of the unique needs of their communities, from homelessness and literacy, to food insufficiency, environmental cleanups, and awareness of health issues. There are clubs for every stage of life, beginning with K-Kids in elementary school, Builders Club in middle school, Key Club in high school, CKI for college students, Aktion Club for adults with disabilities, and Kiwanis clubs for adults of all ages.
